What Makes Chop Suey by SOAD My Go To Listen Song For Events Gig Culling/Editing Work

With University Ball event gig season approaching, now's the best opportunity to write about what makes Chop Suey by System Of A Down my go to song when I cull and edit event function gig photos.

When it comes to culling/editing photos, I aim to listen to music so I don't end up getting high blood pressure or stress at any point. I aim for the process to be productive yet fun at the same time. Something I can enjoy as photography is my career and passion.

When I work on event function gig photos, I mainly listen to Chop Suey by System Of A Down. Specifically for birthday parties and ball events, when the guests are on the dancefloor. How did I start getting into this habit?

After the UTS Science Ball Gig in 2022 which I gigged for, I was humming along to Chop Suey while I culled the photos where the guests are on the dancefloor. While I edited the photos, I happened to play the song again by radom chance. This time, I was jamming along to it from my computer desk and sang along to it.

Starting from a birthday party gig in Oct 14 2022, every time the "I don't think you trust in my" choruses play, I sing along to it. This serves to reduce stress and enjoy the job better. Hence, I would have it on repeat, as in the case of a March 15 Welcome Home Drinks Night gig editing process.

Over time, I would listen to cover versions of Chop Suey. These include: August Burns Red, The Dead South and Lil Uzi Vert.

I can't think of a better song to listen to as Chop Suey by SOAD encapsulates everything to do with party mood. This song always hypes me up whichever way I go. It's my go to song when working on event function gig photos so I can have fun while giving my client 100% with my efforts and high quality/standards.
